Tom Hiddleston Ponders the Universe in Stephen King’s Mysterious ‘The Life of Chuck’ Trailer

Tom Hiddleston is bringing an acclaimed new Stephen King adaptation to movie theaters.

The first trailer gives glimpses of both a young Chuck, played by Jacob Tremblay, and his older self, played by Hiddleston, while the sound of a clock ticks in the background.

“The universe is large and it contains multitudes but it also contains me,” Hiddleston, 43, says in a voiceover for the trailer, while we see his character standing in the middle of a street as people walk by.

The Life of Chuck ‘s trailer comes after it won the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival‘s People’s Choice Award over highly anticipated movies like Emilia Perez and Anora in September.

Hiddleston teased a seven-minute-long dance scene he undertook in The Life of Chuck while speaking with PEOPLE in Toronto.

“Chuck Krantz is in town for a convention to speak to other accountants about accountancy things and he hears the beat of a drum. It’s an infectious beat that infuses his whole body,” he said of the scene. “Suddenly, he finds himself moving his hips. And across the way is a young woman who seems to be enjoying it too.”

It’s completely spontaneous and joyful,” Hiddleston added of the sequence. “I hope the audience finds it as spontaneous and joyful as we did.”

The new movie is adapted from King’s 2020 novella of the same name, published in his short story collection If It Bleeds.

Mike Flanagan, who has adapted multiple King properties before and grown popular from his Netflix horror series like The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass , wrote and directed the film.

Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mia Sara, Matthew Lillard, Harvey Guillén, Q’orianka Kilcher, Kate Siegel and David Dastmalchian also appear in the new movie.

The Life of Chuck is in theaters in June.
